Bells Still Toll is a poetic documentary that tells the story of a church terrorist bombing that took place in Tanta, Egypt, in April 2017, killing 30 people and leaving behind a lot more injured victims and bereaved families. Tanta is the filmmaker’s hometown and the bombed church happens to be right across the street from her house. A year after the bombing, 5 bereaved individuals who lost loved ones in the bombing opened up to the filmmaker about that day that changed their lives from their own perspectives, raw feelings and vivid memories. The film also includes a personal narrative of a loss that happened in the filmmaker’s life and affected her greatly. Both narratives intertwine, creating one piece about loss and grief.
